EVE FAQs - course entry requirements, study time and exam booking A list of the prerequisites required (and equipment) to be able to sit the EV exam after completing EVE.

EVE - the Electric Vehicle Equipment Installer Course with City & Guilds 2921-34  remote invigilated exam.

1. Learner entry requirements flow chart - can you sit the EV exam? 

 

* Check your qualification against the detailed qualification list below.

** CPD must be verifiable, for example: 

  • From a learning management system where records are kept independent of printed certificates. For example, our ACE: Electrical Channel or a competent person scheme (ECA, NAPIT, NICEIC etc) record. 

  • Certificates of attendance at Tech Talks, manufacturer workshops and training, competent person scheme training etc.

**** The Experienced Worker Assessment is an example of a route to qualification that allows access to 

Electrician PLUS qualifications. If you have qualifications such as a Higher National Diploma, we recommend 

contacting TESP or your competent person scheme provider for advice.

2. Required Equipment and Reference Material

Studying devices:

  • For accessing the course, we recommend large screen devices, 10 inches or above.

  • For the City & Guilds remote invigilated exam service, a Windows PC/Laptop with a Webcam will be required.  Check the City & Guilds requirements HERE.

Reference Books:  

  • (essential) ‘IET Code of Practice: Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, 5th Edition’

  • The 18th Edition Regs book can be taken into the exam: Amd 2 (Brown book) until October 2026, Amd 4 can also be used from April 15th 2026.

    • Amendment 4 of the 18th Edition (published in April 2026) includes minor changes to Section 722 of BS 7671. 

Calculator: only non-programmable calculators are allowed (no smart devices)

3. Course study time

EVE and the 2921-34 qualification can be studied in approximately 15 hours. 


The Formal Exam and the EVE Final Assessment include 30 questions, which must be completed within 60 minutes. Our exam simulator gives you unlimited opportunities to practice using the hundreds of questions in our question bank.


The EVE Final Assessment has a pass mark of 85%, which is 10% higher than the formal exam (75%).

4. Booking the exam

(if you purchased from a 3rd Party reseller - please check their exam booking requirements)


Once the Final Assessment has been passed, the exam can be booked either directly from the Final Assessment application or by emailing exam@learninglounge.com


You will be required to email evidence (scans, photos) of your existing level 3 (or similar) qualification(s) as listed above before we book your exam. In some cases we may need to authenticate evidence, which may delay booking the exam. 


Exams are operated via the City and Guilds remote invigilation service, these sessions are usually available at 08.00, 11.30 and 4pm on a date seven days from the time you request the exam.


We will provide an official electronic C&G 2921-34 exam certificate within one working day of passing the exam. The paper certificate will follow as soon as available.


5. Detailed list of eligible core qualifications and other evidence

If you hold 2350, 2355, 2356, 2360, 2361/2, 2367/8 or 2369 — you are generally within the recognised Route 2 legacy pathway.

1️⃣ Pre-NVQ Craft Era (Approx. 1977–1994)

These qualifications pre-date the NVQ framework.
Formal AM2 assessments were not introduced until the early–mid 1990s.
