Do you need SPDs for EV charging point circuits? In this EVE countdown video Dave Austin examines whether Electric Vehicle charging points are required to have Surge Protective Devices installed to protect against Transient Over-voltages.



SPDs to provide protection against transient overloads (whether man made or natural/supernatural in origin) is not listed as a requirement under Section 722 of the regs...so does this mean those designing and installing EV charging points can dance down the road in glee at not having to worry about calculated risk assessments and the like?
